On Friday, 29th of April, WIP organised the second meeting for the RE4Industry members of the RE4Industry German Cluster and Committee to present the latest project results. The meeting brought together the representatives of German Energy Intensive Industries (EIIs) participants with the aim of discussing policies and suitable technologies for the renewable energy transition of German EIIs.

The session started with an overview of the RE4Industry project and its recent results, including a presentation of three different industrial case studies: chemical (Corbion), steel (SINEDOR), and aluminium (Mytilineos) sectors. After illustrating the sector-specific needs and barriers, related to their different heat and electricity needs, the participants brainstormed on the suitable renewable energy solutions, tailored to each sector. Participants talked about various renewable energy technologies and shared experiences about successful applications in their industries.

This one-hour meeting successfully gave first-hand impressions from industry stakeholders and constituted the starting point to better explore options and suitable technologies for the decarbonization of the EIIs in the following phases of the RE4Industry project.
